Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and Laureth SulphateWhat they really doSodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate inexpensive detergents commonly used in cosmetic cleansers, shampoos, bubbble baths, etc. They are the most dangerous ingredient used in skin and hair-care products. In the cleaning industry SLS is used in garage floor cleaners, as a degreaser, and in car-wash products. It is very corrosive and attacks greasy surfaces. SLS is known to penetrate into the eyes as well as brain, heart, liver, etc., and showed long-term retention in the tissues. When SLS penetrated into young children's eyes it has prevented them from developing properly and caused cataracts to develop in adults. It can cause and irritate hair loss by attacking the hair follicle. In bubble baths it eats away skin protection and causes rashes and infection to occur. In young girls it has been known to increase the frequency of urinary tract infections. SLS cleans by corrosion and is known to be harmful to skin and hair. Skin becomes dry from stripping the protective lipids from the surface so it can't effectively regulate moisture. Another extremely serious problem is the connection of SLS with nitrate contamination. SLS reacts with many types of ingredients used in skin products and forms nitrosomines (nitrates). Nitrates are potential cancer-causing carcinogens. Because of the alarming penetrating power of SLS, large amounts of these known carcinogens are absorbed through the skin into the body. A variation of SLS is SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate- SLES). It exhibits many of the same characteristics and is a higher-foaming variation of SLS. It is widely used to create the effect of a more rich and bubbling product at a very cheap price. These chemicals are accumulating in our systems every day in addition to those used in our toothpaste, our dishwashing liquids, our cosmetics and moisturisers. In an effort to look and feel younger we are actually destroying the base of our skins and bodies and prematurely aging ourselves. I care because my children are the highest exposed generation on the planet to the plethora of chemicals in products that are allowed to be sold without warning of the known dangers, not potential, these are now clearly known. Vitamins and SupplementsI'm not a doctor. I did however have glandular fever undiagnosed for six months which developed into chronic fatigue.
